All ages and fitness levels are catered for and no previous experience with hunting or firearms is necessary.
Southern Hunting Adventures arrange hunts to fit any timeframe or travel plans and some species can be hunted in a 2-3 hour hunt although the more time you have available, the better experience we can offer.
Our company offers fully guided and outfitted hunts from 2 hours up to 2 months long with full support for bringing along the family or non-hunting observers.
Custom packages are created for any budget or timeframe to hunt all of New Zealand’s game species.
The species list incorporates all of the South Pacific BIG FIVE – Bull Tahr, Red Stag, Fallow Buck, Chamois and Wild Boar. Many other species can be added to this list with 28 animals available including gamebirds.
Some examples of our available packages are as follows however custom itineraries are usually created for every hunt.
1: New Zealand Alpine Adventuring
Alpine Tahr and Chamois.
Comprehensive 4 day stalking package on free range Himalayan Thar and Chamois.
Can include a helicopter insertion and retrieve for $1950 per hour of helicopter time
$550nzd per day for 1 person, Minimum 2 day hunt.
$750nzd per day for 2 persons, Minimum 2 day hunt.
$950nzd per day for 3 persons, Minimum 3 day hunt (required to be with 2 guides) (maximum 4 persons on alpine hunts).
Includes transport, basic trophy preparation, accommodation, food.
A reasonable level of fitness is required for this hunt although a helicopter insertion and retrieval will allow for a less demanding hunt.
2: The Beginner
3 day beginner and small game package – Wallaby, Goat, Rabbit, Possum, Hare. This package teaches the basics of firearm handling and is perfect to keep the kids occupied over the school holidays. $750 per person, minimum 2 persons. Includes accommodation, meals, ammunition and all tuition.
Low Budget small game packages available for Turkey, Wallaby, Feral Goat, Arapawa Ram, Quail, Pheasant, Duck and Geese from $550 per day. 2 persons from $800 per day.
3: 3 days
Low budget free range 3 day roar hunting package.
10-16 point Red Stag during the roar period
Accommodation (country hut or spike camp) and airport transfers provided, meals provided and use of firearms.

7: The New Zealand Alpine Double
Tahr and Chamois all inclusive alpine double – Our most popular alpine package offering luxury 5 star mountain lodge accommodation, gourmet food and wine, helicopter access to the mountain and all transfers. This package is the ultimate New Zealand Alpine experience and includes scenic Glacier viewpoints. Pricing is $9500 per hunter.
